Gum disease is treatable...

Gum or periodontal disease is caused by plaque and tartar that builds up on the teeth.  The resulting inflammation can lead to infection and bone and tissue recession.

Gum disease has been implicated as a contributive factor in heart disease, diabetes, stroke, low weight and premature births.  It is estimated that 80% of the population may have some degree of gum disease and are unaware of it.

Good News...

Gum disease is treatable and preventable with good oral hygiene. This includes daily brushing and flossing, and regular dental checkups every six months.
